XLR outputs are certainly hotter (louder) than RCA outputs. This is the likely culprit.

DDJ SB to speakers
I hook my DDJ SB to the NX 55 speakers and it doesn't the sound play at it's full potential. The NX 55 speakers are much louder than what is played with the maximum off of the DDJ SB controller. Not sure why, I guess the DDJ SB doesn't have XLR output or just doesn't have enough power since it gets it's juice from the laptop. Thanks
