Just that error, nothing else?
Please Help: everytime I try and back up rekordbox Ithe gets up to around 42% and then I get a "Back up failed " error message. I've tried backing up to the hard drive, external hard drive and portable hard drive and still get the same error. Having spent many hours ensuring all my tracks are spot on I want to make sure I can back up regular. Any ideas?

The exact message is "Failed to Back up the collection". So frustrating.
And do you backup your music also or only the library? And if you do backup music also, try without music files.
1st back up I did about a week after getting my new kit worked fine. That was library and full collection. Since then I've bought a lot of music so tried the same and failed. Yes if I back up without backing up my collection it works. But I want to ensure if I do a restore in the future due to a laptop failure that I don't have to go through the whole analysing tracks thing again.
If I back the music collection up separate than the rekordbox library, if I have to restore in the future will it still hold all the analysed information?
I don't mind doing it separately as long as I don't have to through the analysing thing again.
Thanks for your help

No problem backing up without collection. If you put all your music in the same folders as before there is no problem. You can always relocate the files after.
I use this fuction my self. I have a windows tablet and I backup my RB on my laptop --> restore on my tablet --> add cue points, make playlists --> backup on my tablet again --> restore on my laptop --> all that I did on my tablet is now on my laptop.
Only thing you have to do is put the music files in EXACTLY the same folder.
OK great, thank you. I'm copying the whole music collection in one go so all the folder structure will be exactly the same if I have to restore. I buy quote a lot of tracks so I needed a robust back up process to ensure I don't lose music and of course all the cue points ect.
Looks like I now have a solution. Thanks very much for your help

No problem.
The time you spend making playlists and setting cue points is the real pain when every thing is gone. I all ways backup when I did a number of tracks adding cue's.
See you later

Hi! I'm Roberto
I'm interested to un derstand how do You solved the problem with backup that fails at around 42%.
Did anyone solved this topic?
Thanks!
A backup will fail if...
- the destination drive is full
- the destination drive goes to sleep or is disconnected during the process
- there is a problem reading the source data or destination drive
I've had this issue for the last couple weeks now. I deleted an old back up which I did a couple months ago to make room for a new one on an external hard drive. The backup reaches 42-43% and then I get the message 'Failed to backup collection'. I'm slightly unsure on what backing up without music files does but my main priority is that If I restore my backup all my tracks are in the playlists i've put them into and in order. I have no missing files & I'm pretty sure I have no missing waveforms. How can I sort this ?
Sorry for my delay, pay attention to the version you are working, i'm working with 5.8.7. I solved the problem because i had an old version.
