How should I organize my music on my computer/Rekordbox?

Hi guys,

I'm wondering how other people organize or arrange all of their music on their computers since I'm having trouble with it myself.

Could anyone get me some tips on how to have a simple and organized library. Is their any tutorials or guides on the internet? I can't find any.

Do you guys use itunes to store all your music or do you use folders?

Do you use one folder with all your music and then sorting it in Rekordbox or do you have multiple small folder with different BPM/Genres?

Would appreciate any help :)

This is what works for me - can't comment on whether it'd be any good for others but .... I store all my tunes on my home server (has RAID-like redundancy and backup so I don't lose anything).

Basic layout is:

Tunes

- Genre

- Quality of file

- Date stamped folder, description if needed

Eg - today I added some tracks to:

\\media\tunes\trance\FLAC\2016-11-19

I'm ex-vinyl and have difficulty remembering and finding tracks without having something physical to flip through. This way, I can keep track of tunes based on what genre they are and when they were added to the collection.
