CDJ2000NXS2 Emergency loop

For a couple of years I own two CDJ2000Nexus players, which work perfectly with my 32GB USB (Corsair Survivor) stick and SD cards. However when I try to use these on new CDJ2000NXS2 players I get a lot of 'emergency loops' when playing my tracks. It occurs almost everytime when I play a loop (autoloaded) via a hot-CUE. After repeating these loops a couple of times the emergency loop kicks in.

What I've tried:
- Re-analyse all files with Rekordbox
- Other USB stick (32GB SanDisk)

Situation:
- Firmware v1.40
- RekordBox v4.2.4 (Mac)

This always worked perfectly on my own 2000Nexus players, I'm only having trouble with the NXS2 devices. Does anyone else have this problem and is there something I can do to prevent this?

Thanks in advance!

Edit 27-11-2016:

I found out that it seems to depend on 'where' the track is playing from, in this situation I always get an emergency loop for certain tracks:

1. Power on CDJ

2. Load USB settings

3. Select playlist, load track

4. Start track with a Hot Cue (Loop)

5. After looping 2 to 4 times the emergency loop pops up

When I repeat this steps, but don't select the track from a playlist the emergency loop doesn't occur as often! So it seems somehow related to playlists. Creating a new playlist doesn't fix the problem..

Corsair Survivor USB drives are known to be problematic in XDJ units however this is the first I've heard of them misbehaving in a CDJ. Either way, I don't recommend them for use in Pioneer DJ products. Please try using another make / model USB drive with the same content and see if it happens with that drive as well. If so, we can dive deeper to troubleshoot.

Hi Pulse, thanks for answering!

In the mean time I've tried another USB device (Sandisk 32GB) and SD card (Toshiba 32GB) and I still have the same problem. I've made a short clip of the situation, see this Dropbox link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/fhgdf4i0n8crnkx/IMG_8968.MOV?dl=0

Hopefully you or someone else at Pioneer can help me out, since I'm unable to use the CDJ2000NXS2 series this way.

I'm going to convert this to a ticket and see if our rekordbox team can address it further as it's certainly odd for it to loop and then convert to an emergency loop like that, especially with multiple drives. I'll add you to the ticket, if you don't get an email, you can click here or go to your name at the top right, and select My Activities from the drop-down.

After a couple of weeks investigating this problem together with engineers from Pioneer I can conclude that this issue is caused by the following fact:

The emergency loop can occur when MP3 tracks in your collection/playlist have an APE ID3 tag. This kind of tag is not supported by the CDJ, there are several tools out there to remove and change your type of ID3 tags. All files in your collection should be updated and should not have the APE tag! (It still occurred when other tracks did have this tag in my collection)

For example you can use MP3Tag: www.mp3tag.de to remove the APE tag. This is applicable for at least  all firmware versions until v1.60.

Correct; our engineers have found any files with the APE tag could cause a playback issue and encourage removal of APE tags.

I have Emergency Loop triggering on one specific WAV file (not an MP3).  Happens on both of my CDJ's.

CDJ 2000 NXS2

Latest Firmware 1.6

Sandisk Extreme Pro 128gb USB3 sticks

Rekordbox is latest version 4.3.0

When I converted that WAV to MP3, and retested, the problem went away.  No more Emergency Loop issue with the MP3

I have the same problem and it's happening several times

CDJ-2000NXS2 Firmware 1.71 Sandisk Extreme Pro USB Flash.

Everything was fine with the previous CDJ-2000NXS, I am using two NXS2 and two NXS the problem is happening ONLY with the Nexus 2!
