XDJ RX 2 & Streaming to Mixcloud Live - anyone done this?

Hi,

I want to try streaming my sets on Mixcloud Live, which requires me sending audio from my XDJ RX2 to my laptop.

I have tried connecting it using the USB rear socket and cable I use to connect my PC to my XDJ RX2 to use Rekordbox- but  I couldn't see an option to select this audio input in the streaming software (which is mixcloud live's own 'Live from your browser' built in software)

I had MIDI selected at the time, as to my understanding that's how the XDJ communicates with the laptop) but I do not want to use rekordbox during the stream if I can - I'd rather use my USB stick to keep the laptop free just for monitoring the stream, and also my effects only work on Master channel when using Rekordbox, (but that's a separate support enquiry I'm still working on lol)

How do I send audio from my XDJ RX2 to my laptop? Can I use the USB cable I'd use for Rekordbox, or do I need to buy a soundcard and use an audio/phono output from the XDJ instead?

If I have to use Rekordbox to do this, can you tell me how to send audio to the laptop - Is there something in Preferences/Settings I need to look at?

And also, If I have to use Rekordbox to do this, can you tell me how I can also browse and load from the USB stick rather than rekordbox, if rekordbox is connected?

Thank you!

Hi Phrazle,

How do I stream audio from my XDJ RX2 to my laptop? Can I use the same USB connection as I would for Rekordbox, or do I need to purchase a soundcard and utilize the XDJ's audio/phono output instead?

You record your performance using Serato while the bug is happening, does the recorded output also have out-of-sync FX?

@melon sandbox you're right that selecting MIDI mode tells the XDJ to behave as a controller, which is why it's communicating with Rekordbox and why the USB connection is focused on sending MIDI signals from the unit and/or audio to/from Rekordbox.

To stream your XDJ-RX2 to Mixcloud Live, the USB cable alone won’t send audio unless you use Rekordbox with the Pioneer driver; otherwise, connect the RX2’s Master or Booth Out to a soundcard and select that as input in Mixcloud. Using Rekordbox lets you send audio to your laptop, but browsing USB tracks directly on the RX2 is limited. For reference, think of it like official portals such as the tnreginet website—supported modes are required to access services properly.

You can’t stream audio from the XDJ-RX2 to your laptop via the USB used for Rekordbox, as it only sends MIDI. To stream to Mixcloud Live, use the Master or Booth outputs into a laptop audio interface. If using Rekordbox, enable “Audio Output to Computer” in Preferences and select it in your streaming software, while still loading tracks from your USB stick. For a simple connection example, see https://tmregistration.ph/call-landline-using-tm-sim/

To stream your sets from the XDJ RX2 to Mixcloud Live, you cannot use the USB cable alone as you would with Rekordbox, because that connection primarily handles MIDI control and track info, not audio output; instead, you’ll need to route the audio via a soundcard or use the XDJ RX2’s RCA or digital outputs into your laptop’s audio interface so Mixcloud Live can pick it up, or if you prefer using Rekordbox, enable the “Audio” routing in Rekordbox Preferences by selecting your audio interface as the output device and make sure the Master output is assigned correctly—this way you can still load tracks from your USB stick while the software handles streaming, similar to how Popeyes hiring age requirements specify eligibility criteria, you just need the right “interface” to meet the system’s requirements.

To send audio from your XDJ RX2 to your laptop for streaming, you typically need to use an audio interface or soundcard instead of just the USB cable, as the USB connection is primarily for MIDI communication with Rekordbox. If you prefer to use Rekordbox, drive mad ensure that in the Preferences/Settings, you select the correct audio output for streaming, and you may need to set up your USB stick browsing options within Rekordbox to load tracks while it's connected.
