DDJ 1000

great looking controller

1. how do you adjust the grid as the hardware buttons have been removed and this is rekordbox weakest link most none 4x4 digital tracks need attention.

2. is the "4 bar loop" button fixed at only four bars. again the parameter buttons have gone.

3. have the little red arrows gone that were beside the pitch slider? giving you much needed clue as to were the slider needs to go (hard to explain that one)

4. does the "keyboard" button pop out an on screen keyboard?

almost ready to pre order but some heavily used buttons for me have vanished!

@andy > 1. I noticed that too, but you can still do it through the software with mouse / keyboard, reassign a button on the unit, or add another MIDI device.

2. The IN and OUT buttons double as 1/2 and 2X buttons once the loop is engaged. I'm sure that can be changed in settings, or perhaps, like a CDJ, holding it will force it to 8 beats.

3. Yes, I know what you mean, they are removed, but that information may be visible in the display.

4. No - that's meant for "key play" to allow you to manipulate a hot cue as if you were playing it in a keyboard (music, not computer).

a moderator on dj tech tools says that you hold shift while turning jog wheel, this will adjust the grid is that correct?

I was hoping that wasn't the case, but it looks like it is, according to the silk-screening on the hardware:

On all other controllers, SHIFT+JOG has been to move rapidly through the track, and without this unit having a touch-strip, I'm going to be pretty disappointed if I can't remap that jog function - the << and >> buttons don't cut it for me.

i understand your pain pulse, when youve been doing something a certain way for years for that feature to vanish is painfull. and i reckon its gone!

for me how ever i never use the touch strip and the search buttons will be a welcome replacment! something i requested even, i bet they didnt do a quantized search button as that would have been to perfect :(

one video review away from ordering, hope theres an official bag for it too that will fit your laptop in etc.

Not having needle search is a worthwhile sacrifice to the better, bigger jogwheel.

Yes, the jog is for grid adjust. Resize with SHIFT + top of jog and move with SHIFT + side of jog.

Also, for skipping through the track quickly, it's shift then the arrow buttons.  I'm bummed about the touch strip too, but I guess it's for space constraints.

Just read the DDJ-1000 manual online, cant wait to get my hands on it soon.  Hope they addressed some of the bugs I reported in earlier 5.x builds.

I like this way of editing the grid, very intuitive, not forced to be in a "pioneer way" like old hot cue recording on cdj or memory cue instead of hot cue.

Hello Everyone,

I am currently having some issues with my DDj 1000:

  1. I cannot find my sampler on the right deck for whatever reason. I do not have the option of loading it up in RekordBox.
  2. My pitch sliders are not engaging until I pull it to the end (either up or bottom) then it has a crazy BPM value change like 120 to 110 if I have (+/-10) set up.
  3. Is it possible to convert my hot cues to memory loops?

Any help will really be appreciated.

Thanks.
