XDJ-RX is a scam.

I was already choked that rekordboxDJ wasn't available to my XDJ-RX, now I find out it's not Serato compatible or plays FLACS OR WAVS??? I'm returning it tomorrow and am going to pursue a refund for my rekordboxdj key. You guys are thieves. And I see other people have similar problems, calling you out in clear, concise way about this greedy discrepancy and your PR rep being rude in response. BRUTAL.
RETURNED!!

@Leland > Sorry for the misunderstanding. I'm not sure who you spoke with who was rude, so I can't address that - unless you mean this post, in which case, please tell me what you consider rude, but I can provide you with some clarifications.

No, the XDJ-RX is not a Serato-compatible device. A quick browse through their website would have shown you it's not a listed Pioneer DJ controller.

No, the XDJ-RX does not play FLAC, but it does play WAV. In fact, that's even screened onto the top of the unit itself:

If you wanted to use FLAC, you could do that within rekordbox dj, as it does support FLAC audio files and the XDJ-RX could control the software for that functionality.

And to respond to your inquiry ticket, where you wrote:

"WHY am I having to pay for a license for an expensive ass piece of gear that I just bought that has REKORDBOX printed on it, this is infuriating even by 2018 technological annoyance levels."

The XDJ-RX was released before rekordbox dj (performance mode) was available, and thus the XDJ-RX was not intended as a controller for it. The fact it has rekordbox screened on the unit indicates that it works as part of the rekordbox ecosystem, where you use the software to manage and prepare your music, to either export to a USB drive or connect via ethernet (link) as your music source. It does not mean you get a license rekordbox dj for free, as you would with the new XDJ-RX2, which was released in late 2017. There was a limited time promotion where a license was offered, but again, that was before the XDJ-RX2 was announced / released, and the promotion has since expired.

never saw the rx advertised to be Serato certified nor that it was able to play flacs or wavs.. I think you are right in returning an item that do not satisfy you, but maybe next time know what you are buying before taking out hard earned cash. all the best! ciao!

Purchased a XDJRX2 read all about rekordbox
thought I'd give it a try. So far it's been three days
trying to set this thing up and still not working properly .
Just found out you need an appointment for tech support
Which does me no good I work during the day .
After spending the amount that I did
would've expected better technical support .
Still not working correctly this is no serato.
