Hello
Can anyone (@pulse @jay) comment on the DAC used on the DDJ-1000? I know at the price point, it's not going to have the top of the line DAC from the NXS2, but in my experience, the DAC sounds VERY harsh. I may have a faulty unit, but sounds noticeably overdriven and distorted even with levels way down and with plenty of headroom in the software. I'm in the process of RMA'ing my unit for a buzzing/hissing in my headphone so hopefully this is a related issue, but i'm worried if that Pioneer had taken a few shortcuts to curtail costs on this unit.
I'd assumed prior to purchase that it would have at least the Wolfson DAC from the old Nexus line and DDJ-RZ/SZ to help bring over the SR, SX, SX2 users from Serato!
Thanks!

Sorry to hear that.
Based on your hands on time with the DDJ-1000, does it at least sound good enough as the SX2?
I'm just asking this question this as I've had a lot of Pioneer gear, including a NXS setup, NXS2 setup, as well as SX2 and an RZ. To me this this sounds much worse, but again I'm not sure if it is related to me other issue with a noisy headphone out, or if if the DAC is just significantly different than the other offerings. Would you be able to comment on your tests with the equipment you have at your disposal? Thanks
My DDJ 1000 also makes a high pitched buzzing sound through the headphones, but you can only notice it when there is no music playing. I thought this was normal?
@Traverse
I posted about that a week ago when I received my DDJ. See this thread here:
Its very apparent at home in the studio without music playing. I took it to a gig on the weekend and of course couldn't hear that high pitch buzzing with the crowd/monitors. I did notice, however, that the sound wasn't as clean as the CDJ2000NXS that are there (plugged into a DJM900NXS). Interestingly my DDJ-RZ sounds as good (maybe better?) than the 2000NXS.
Hi,
In the main PCB of my DDJ-1000 (may 2018), i see an AK4458VN, 8 multi-channel DAC, good DAC, velvet sound :
