What the Light Will DO and Not DO

Pulse,

Is there anything available to see what a specific light will do and not do?

For Instance I have a CHAUVET DJ Mini Kinta IRC fitted with 3W LEDs with sharp beams and derby effects- Red, Green, Blue and White effects. hat have DMX Specific Addresses that will allow the light to perform when that number is called.

Right now in the database it calls for a 2 Channel Light. and the only thing I can get it to run it the Laser, which honestly it gets tiring to watch.

I can go own about my Chauvet Swarm 5 fx and My ADJ Pocket Scans.

It would be nice when looking at new lights what can I get from the with rekordbox. It kinda seems hit or miss right now...

Currently FX fixtures, such as the Kinta, are not supported - so if you do manage to get something working, chances are it won't be spectacular.

Our lighting team is working on integrating additional controls for FX-type fixtures (and others), but for the time being, only movers, pars, bars, strobes, and pin-spots are technically supported.

Pulse, if they are not supported why are they listed In the database? I bought 4 lights thinking they were supported only to figure out now after the investment that they don't do anything "Spectacular"

And for the time being, movers, pars, bars, strobes, and pin-spots are not even technically supported.

So what I am asking is what will the fixture(s) actually do? Or Do we have to buy one and figure it out for ourselves?

Come on Pulse.....

They're listed in the database because the database supports them and will be ready for those fixtures to work with rekordbox lighting when the lighting application can control them.

Yes, movers, pars, bars, strobes, and pin-spots DO work and are supported. I've set several programs / shows for them. I know not all functions of those devices are supported (eg. prism, zoom on movers), but those are features to be included at a later time.

I wanted to chime in here. Last night I played a show with my $5000 light show and I was never so embarrassed. I reluctantly refunded the fee for the light show ($800 bucks out of my pocket).

I have no control over the lights they do what ever they want and at some times they just sit there and do nothing.

Really embarrassing. I understand that Pioneer is just getting underway with this but what do they have one guy working on this in the basement?

This is very disheartening coming from a company like Pioneer DJ.

I am going to have to switch back to my MYDMX 3.0 (www.adj.com) to get control back.

@Phil - it's not just "plug and play" -- you need to understand how the application works, how the phrase analysis works, and how you have it configured for your lights. I understand it's not as flexible as something like MyDMX3, but it's certainly more automated and sync'd than a "blank slate" DMX program works.

Pulse,

Well I have put to much time into figuring it out. is there any advanced video instruction on what you are saying. each time I go in and change the configuration the light doesn't work.

I wouldn't say MyDMX is a blank slate because you can call on the ALREADY existing DMX within the light which you cannot do with the RB DMX1.

Do you mean having MyDMX call the sound-active or macros from the light?

yes you can call sound active with a push of a button or within the preprogramed series. you can in fact call any DMX channel on any light or a group of lights.

You can download myDMX for free (https://store.dmxsoft.com/en/) or the $39 annual subscription gets extra features like writing your own DMX calls or a 3d room to see how the lights will perform without having to set up your lights you can get a controller for less than $300 off eBay...

The problem is you need another laptop to run it correctly, it won't run off the rekordbox laptop smoothly.

having the ability to lay the DMX on the song is great as well. But in the end its less than SoundSwitch.
