Browser Collection/Playlist scrolling hangs briefly when moving between Collection/Playlist Folders

Whenever the rotary browser knob is used to scroll between the Collections folder or between playlist folders containing a few smart playlists, the scrolling hangs for about 2 seconds before moving onto the next item.

Yeah, that's because it's loading that data. The larger your collection (or slower your drive with that data), the longer it will take. Sorry!

I've always found moving between static playlists is pretty fast. It's the smart playlists that kill the browser until the database is searched. I've stopped using the smart playlists in RB and just use them in iTunes. When you import them from iTunes they turn into static playlists which are fast.

I am currently using folders which contain smart playlists made in Rekordbox, and I notice this lag when moving between folders. So is it that Rekordbox is loading the data for all playlists contained in the folder? I don't fully understand why that should be the case since when you select a folder, it does not load any songs from any playlists. Shouldn't the loading only be done when you select an actual smart playlist with songs? I don't mean to compare, but I do not notice such lag when moving between playlists/folders in other similar software. I guess I'm just trying to understand what is happening here and why the lag is considered acceptable.

@Marlon > That's called "recursive" listing, and unfortunately rekordbox doesn't currently do that -- it's high up on the request list so we hope to have it implemented in future.

As for any lag, it could be that the smart playlist is refreshing itself, and depending on the number of criteria / the size of your collection / the speed of your hard drive containing the database or music, that could slow down the scrolling action.
