Rekordbox DJ - No Audio/Waveform Greyed Out
Hey guys!
I had a gig last weekend and ran into audio trouble when switching over from another DJ (Serato). Wondering if anyone can help me out.
Gear:
2x CDJ 900nxs2
DJM 900nxs2
I was trying to use RBDJ in HID mode by connecting both CDJS to a 3.0 (unpowered) hub and the hub to my Macbook. Then I connected the mixer straight to my computer. I opened the CDJ/XDJ aggregator, launched RBDJ < Preferences < Audio < selected CDJ/XDJ. Channels 1 and 2 were turned to USB A which was where my laptop was connected to on the mixer.
For some reason, the tracks I loaded were greyed out and the master level on RBDJ wasn't jumping nor were they jumping on channel 1 or 2 (faders down).
I also had the REC section expanded cause I wanted to record my set, and I noticed the Master Out level was jumping but the main Master output on RBDJ wasn't responding.
I've used this gear + setup many times without any audio issues but I couldn't pinpoint the issue that night. I ended up not being able to play set which was disappointing.

The reason the audio didn't come through on the mixer was you selected the USB inputs on the channels, but had configured rekordbox to output the audio to the CDJs, which means the audio would have come through to the mixer on the line inputs.
Can I ask why you were using the CDJs as your audio devices instead of the DJM?

A friend of mine who uses RBDJ said that this was the method to connect RBDJ in HID mode. After your explanation, I had an epiphany and realized I could've used the same method to connect, except omit the CDJ/XDJ aggregator part and selected the DJM 900 as audio output in the program. OR I could've connected both CDJ's to a hub to my laptop, used the CDJ/XDJ aggregator and omitted the usb connection from the mixer to laptop.
Do both options sound right?
