DDJ-SX3 losing play/pause when you interact with the platters

I'm using Serato DJ Pro with the DDJ SX3 on a Macbook Pro. Anytime I do any scratching, or spin the platter too fast on a manual search, the deck stops playing although the play button remains lit. If you hit the play/pause the play button goes on and off in correlation with you pressing play/pause, but the deck doesn't actually play any more. At that point, pressing and holding a hot cue button is the only way to get any playback. It happens on either deck, every single time no matter what track you load up. I got this controller a few days ago and haven't been able to properly use it. I deleted and reinstalled the drivers multiple times, I'm not sure what the deal is.

Hello FliGuyCeo and all,

Sorry for the late reply.

Engineers have been looking at the issues you kindly reported, but they have not replicated the issues yet.

Will you please create an inquiry from the link below? Although it is in the rekordbox website, we will be able to support you there.

I'm not sure I fully understand, but if you could shoot a video explaining it, it would certainly help in passing this to our product teams in Japan.

Perfect video - thanks! I've not seen that happen, it seems almost as if the jog still thinks it's being pressed. I'll pass this to our product team for review.

Thanks - good to know it's a different OS as well, our engineers are reaching out to Serato to see what this might be.

Any news??? Spoke to the store where I got mine and they've offered a refund within 14 days... My next gig is just over a week away and if this isn't sorted I'll just have to get something else as this is pretty much unusable!! Another issue I've noticed is the vinyl mode sometimes seems to randomly switch off... Not cool!! Updates ASAP please????

I haven’t heard anything back, mine is just sitting here collecting dust. I hope it gets sorted out soon. Seems like a bunch of glitches once the platter stops responding. Like every new track you load after seems to load at random parts of the song and only half the wave is there until you cue back to the beginning. Loop in and out lit up although loop isn’t on. I haven’t used it that much because it’s frustrating.

I adjusted the sensitivity all the way to the lowest setting and it didn’t resolve the issue. The track still stops playing once you manipulate the platters. The right platter almost immediately once you manually reverse it, the left deck seems to allow you to play with it a bit longer before it quits.

Just done the same with mine and it's still doing the same thing... If anything it's slightly worse... If this isn't sorted out this week it'll be going back to the store...

Ok brief update... It seems that the issue resolves itself if you use the needle search... Basically if you use this to scroll back to the beginning of the track for some reason the play button comes back online... Still totally unusable at a gig but has let me play with the unit... Still waiting for a fix or info please Pioneer DJ????

You’re on to something. What’s interesting is that only the left platter would come back online when I used the needle search back to the beginning. It got me thinking, so I disabled the needle search during playback and what do you know, the play doesn’t seem to go offline on the left platter, and on the right platter it doesn’t go offline as easily, but when it does it’s for a brief moment then continues playing! Come on Pioneer and Serato, we’re narrowing this down, it’s not hard to duplicate at all.

Played with it a bit more and they both still go offline. It’s so frustrating. I also notice if I use deck 4 vinyl mode doesn’t work, spinning the platter only adjust the speed of the track temporarily. It seems as if you can play with that as much as you want and spin it as fast as you want and the play won’t go offline, but no scratching.

Any updates, this is a dust gathering paperweight right now, it's unusable, I'll have to return it shortly if nothing can be done about the issues.

Same here... I have a gig tomorrow night and am going to have to use an SX1 as this can't be played out with!!!

If Pioneer can't replicate this issue then I'm assuming we could just have 2 faulty units?!?!? I have just got hold of an i5 PC that I'm going to test with to see if it's a Mac thing but really this should be what the tecs over at Pioneer should be doing not punters like me!!

I tried using a i5 PC running Windows 10 64 bit and it’s doing the exact same thing. I have until next week to return this. Have you guys been able to duplicate the issue? This must be some type of software issue.

Can you guys tell me if you had any other USB devices connected at the time?

I'd also like to collect serial numbers from your units; please email me - pulse [a][t] djpulse [dot]ca

Thanks.

I had my external hard drive with my music library plugged in at the same time. I’m emailing you now.

Same issue!

Try to disable vinyl mode on decks... i play without vinyl mode and all seems ok!

I need vinyl mode...

Nothing but the SX3 plugged in...

Serial number sent.

As an aside the SX1 I used on Friday worked perfectly so this must be an SX3 hardware/compatibility issue.

I have been using an sx2 since it was released and have had no issues whatsoever!!
So I couldn’t wait to get the sx3!
It worked for about 10’minutes before the decks started to freeze up after any kind of manual manipulation!!
Nothing resolves the issue as everybody in this thread are saying !
I’m really close to taking it back and asking for a refund !!!

Still no updates after a month? Not even a beta firmware to test? What do we do from here?

@damian > What is your computer spec?

@FliGuyCeo > Answered here; it's likely your computer's OS is incompatible as it does not meet the minimum requirement of 10.11.

@Duncan Eagles said he was using High Sierra (10.13) and had the same issues as I'm having. He posted in this thread as well I will update and see if it fixes it, thanks.
