Midi assigning the PADs on a DDJ XP1

Hi,

I am wanting to use the Pads from my DDJ XP1 for the drums in my DAW (Either Reason or Ableton), can this be done?

Cheers

Not sure why it couldn't ... I've used my XP1 with lighting software.

What's the trouble?

It isn’t recognising the XP1 pads in Reason, so it won’t let me map them. I wasn’t sure if I needed to press a button to turn it in to Midi mode, but according to the maual it should do that automatically if no Pioneer software is connected

Hi Pulse,

I’ve got it working in Reason as a keyboard, but the C1 note is three rows up on the XP1, and it works the other way round. So If I hit the top left pad on the XP1, it triggers the bottom left pad on Reason.

Is there anyway I can change this on the XP1?

Cheers

I'm not sure about Reason, but I know in Ableton, remapping the MIDI is as simple as entering MIDI mode, clicking the item you want to assign / change, then press the pad you want to use.

The value sent by the XP1 can't be changed (unless you use a MIDI translator app to have the incoming signal output a different value to your software).
