Laptop choice

Trying to decide on the best option to run rekordbox in performance mode.
MacBook Pro (2012) with 2.4ghz i7 2760qm chip, 8gb ram and ssd at around £550 or the new Lenovo yoga 920 i5 8250u, 8gb tam and ssd

I have a 2012 MBP and it's still doing its thing. Though I have 16GB ram in it.

If the Lenovo has the same price go with the MBP.

The Lenovo is a brand new machine so is £1000. My i5 laptop with 6gb of ram runs it fine and that’s about 5 years old but on its last legs

Why would you go with a 6 year old computer? Yeah, I have a 2012 MBP and it still performs, but I would be more inclined to recommend a computer with a much newer (and faster) processor... but it wouldn't be a low-end Lenovo.

Consider something a bit more powerful in a more reliable package.

In what way do you class the yoga 920 as low end ? its the top of their line 2 in 1 with aluminium body and  8th gen quad core processors ? Sure they have their low and mid range machines like every manufacturer but every single expert review ive seen on the 920 is singing its praises.

The 920 comes with 3 year warranty as well which i thought was really good.

my wants are must be 2in1 and have above average battery life.

feel free to chuck a few more specific models in the hat for me to consider.

My 6 year old hp pavillion with i5 2430m processor and 6gb of ram runs rekordbox with the rekordbox resource meter never going above a quarter, but its big and noisy.

I meant more that Lenovo itself is a "lower-end" brand, and has been for a few years. Sure there may be people "singing its praises," but I can tell you about the number of users who come on the forums and try to explain to me that their $20 USB drive "is fantastic" also don't know what they're talking about.

If your older HP is still chugging along without issues, why upgrade now?

As said its getting noisy and is too big. i dj at home and when we go away in our campervans i rig the controller up through 2 campervans sound systems so require ideally a 2 in 1 with decent battery life.

im not talking about general people, these are professional tech reviewers, 3 three i had in mind were the 920, the dell xps 360 and the hp spectre 360 which are all the high end spec of their brands.

what brand would you also recommend to take a look at ?

As a note of interest, a few of the yoga 920 reviews i looked at were die hard macbook pro users making the switch so they cant be completely crap.

I have a dedicated lenovo tiny form pc i use for my cctv system which has been online for 3 years without a single shutdown.

I was worried about pc spec due to people on here having issues running rekordbox with hardware that is up to spec, but im guessing you have fixed that Fault/Bug as my crappy old pavillion runs it like a champ ?
