What kind of device(s) are you connecting as a line input? I don't have this problem on the DDJ-1000 I've got here testing with CDJs or an iPhone.
Hi,
The external input levels is too low. I am only getting two-three green bars with trim at max. I have tried with several external input devises that i normally dont have this problem with in other mixers (iPhone, iPod, Galaxy, and windows-computer). Tried with new RCA-3,5-cable. No problem with intern channels from rekordbox or the mic input as far as i can tell. Input set to "Line".
Using fw 1.05, and earlier 1.04 with same problem. And rekordbox dj 5.3.0 and erlier 5.2

iPhone, iPod, Galaxy S3, and windows-computer. Feels like this is a hardware problem in my DDJ-1000.
Have you verified that the cable you're using to connect to the DDJ-1000 is working properly?
Have tried with a new RCA-3,5-cable, same problem.
Did you make sure the devices were all at maximum volume before you tried adjusting the channel gain on the DDJ-1000?
all the devices you mention have low output when compared to a cdj as i tested just the other day.
same problem here
Did a few tests on my unit. With a Chromecast hooked up 75-80% of trim gets it to the full 3 yellow bars. This is with the Chromecast Audio volume at 100%.
With my Pixel 2 on 100% volume I get 3 yellow bars on 65-70% of trim
EDIT: Forgot to add, in Rekordbox the Master out meter shows it in red with the know in the middle
Hello me the same. I’ve realised in club (cdj850, vestax 4 channel mix, rekordbox sw, ni scratch a6) low input. although on the same setup i played there several times and there wasnt problem. So i’ve tested it home today (rekordbox 5.4, disconected ddj 1000 as a mix, ni scratch a6.
Even trim to the max didnt gave me blinking first red channel led, on both channels same. Only green leds on 12 hours trim and two orange on max trim. I’ve tested also Ni scratch a10 with same result. Also i tested version down 5.3, the same. Cables are Procab top line cables i used for years with soundcards.
Im planning today test it on Djm 750. If there is problem with rb + soundcard low output or ddj 1000 low input.
If it is low input it can make problem with connecting cdjs to ddj 1000 mix. But worse will be low output. I dont want to rely on cdjs internal cards. In clubs are old models with old firmware. And when cdj freeze, restart of stopped player makes big audio dropout from second one player so only solution is external card. And i used this solution till now
Same here. I will plug my iPad into Channel 3 with a AUX to RCA cable. Set to Line In and I have to turn the channel gain to nearly max to get solid green with one yellow. I've tried using Phono and get the same result.
My iPad volume is max. Same happens with iPhone with max volume, and Android with max volume.
Not sure what to tell you -- every DDJ-1000 (fw 1.05) I've tested with an external line input has had nominal levels, with the gain needing to be 12 o'clock or lower, when using an input device sending a reasonable signal, whether it's from a CDJ, smartphone, tablet, etc.
trust me most phones tablets mp3 players do not put out the same level as a cdj, nothing more to say really, not pioneers fault that your ipad has a low level out put, after all its not designed with saving your failing dj gig in mind is it.
You're correct - the iPad output is slightly lower than a CDJ, but I'm still not having to turn the gain knob above 12 o'clock to get the first orange channel LED illuminated.
i guess it depends on the ipad, i have only used a android samsung pro pad and a samsung s7 edge phone and they both pretty low out put and needed gain on full and eq trims nearly full, but so what its just a fall back and the level is adequate with some eq and gain.
if someone came here and said the cdj had a low input problem then we might consider the ddj1000 to have bad external input handling.
Hi. Im having the same problem. Used ipad for years with other mixers. Anyone get any joy from Pioneer?
@Neil > Do you have the headphone volume on the iPad at maximum? As stated, I have no issues with the audio levels on either of my iPads (regular or mini) connected via minijack-to-RCA to the line inputs on the DDJ-1000, and no need to turn the channel gain above 12 o'clock to get nominal signal on the input.
