Pioneer XDJ700 XDJ1000 Denon SC5000 SP1 Help me choose !

Wow have I got a dilemma on my hands or what!

I have just had my second DDJ1000 washed in beer; the 1st time it got drenched the second time was hardly anything but still rendered it useless!

After much thought I’ve decided that I need a modular set up, all the bars I work have a mixer so I just need to add some decks right?

So I think ill just get pioneers most portable unit the xdj700 as it’s a similar cost to the ddj1000. As usual I do the research to the nth degree and quickly discover it could have been a great but no cigar!

The lack of beat jump is just unforgivable and is a blatant money move on the part of pioneer, so I think well ill just add the sp1 as this will fit in a small travel bag also with the 700’s and make the xdj700 really something quite special.

And it would, except for some reason the sp1won’t work, and it also won’t work with the xdj1000, it will however work with an xdj1000 mk2 in hardware mode only. I could add a laptop, 2 xdj700 and an sp1 to my travel bag but im trying to take out as little gear as possible that can be damaged by beer!

Wow that little xdj700 is damn near perfect for churning out the top 40, if only it had beat jump and a few other missing bits! If only it would take an sp1 in hardware mode!

So where does that leave me? Xdj1000 and an sp1 or……………

I feel im now forced into the higher priced bracket because pioneer for nothing more than the love of money has drip fed features down through the range with the feature set getting more and more tragic as you near the sorry bottom.

Of course what I want is the cdj nexus 2 range with an sp1 to create that controller dj experience but in hardware only mode and no laptop, but how much does that cost again? Is it more resilient to beer?

Step in the denon sc5000 this does everything a nxs2 and an sp1 can do combined but in a smaller much cheaper package and im almost pulling the trigger after the huge price drop and now it can read rekordbox USB sticks!!? What!!

Is there an xdj 700 mk2 due, an xdj mk3 or plans to add the sp1 to the 700 and 1000 mk1 in hardware mode? Because at the moment the pioneer gear is not looking as appealing to me as it once did.

Thoughts?

Well...

regarding future product announcements you will have to wait until announced.

if you are Used to wash your gear in beer a modular System might be a better choice but loosing one CDJ/XDJ or  the mixer because of that may kill your set the same way and you have to repair/replace it afterwards.

In regards  to the SC5000 you should read in the Forum over there to make up  your mind as you may End Up with other challenges with that gear.

I know this doesnˋt help you finally but here is what my personal thinking is (I am owning 2 XDJ-1000MK1 and a DJM-900nxs2)

If I am not wrong the XDJ-1000 MK2 was announced 22 months after the MK1. Right Now we are in a similar range...

I don‘t expect PioneerDJ will add hardware support of tja SP1 or XP1 for the XDJ700 or XDJ1000MK1.

I always preferred modular systems versus controllers because of flexibility - Not so much because of Beer :-)

As having my collection on rekordbox the SC5000 isn‘t an option for me at this time because of many reasons.
