Recordbox

Why is Recordbox always lagging? Freezing? and over all a crappy software. As a pioneer advocate and have always used pioneer hardware, you really need to get this software up to par or you will be left behind in the dust.

rekordbox isn't Serato, so unfortunately, the two can't be compared.

Given that your system specs are adequate, I'd suggest it's possibly background tasks or other applications running that are taking available resources thus causing some performance hiccups. If you're not able to troubleshoot the issue yourself, please file an inquiry ticket here and our rekordbox support team will can gather some additional information to assist you in resolving this issue.

Because your computer isn't capable of running it, you have other tasks / applications hogging resources, or one of several other reasons... I can tell you there are tens of thousands of DJs out there who don't have issues with it, so let's start by collecting some information from you, shall we?

- computer spec (make / model / CPU / RAM / HD)

- operating system version / build

- version of rekordbox

- source location of your audio files / file system format of that drive (FAT32 / NTFS / exFAT / HFS+ / AFS)

- number of songs in your collection

- which Pioneer DJ hardware are you using with rekordbox

I have a 2014 Macbook Pro - 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7. 16gb ram -  High Sierra ver. 10.13.6 - Recordbox ver 5.3.0. External Hard Drive is a Lacie 1 TB. I have approx 500 GB of music. I normally use Serato DJ Pro and really like the durability of this program and have never had any issues with lagging, freezing or any of that, and use a pionner controller with my laptop for performances.. I've only recently started using the Recordbox software as I've invested in CDJ 2000 Nexus2 and obviously a lot easier to go to a gig with just usb sticks, plug and play. But I've have numerous DJ colleagues that have experienced similar issues with this software. I'm an experienced DJ and have been DJing for a long time, I go back to the days of vinyl, and still use vinyl occasionally, I also use the Serato DJ pro with the Rane SL2 with control vinyl when doing certain gigs and have had no issues with that. So any tips would be useful.
