Using Rekordbox DJ and CDJ's.

 Hi!

I'm owning a DDJ-SZ. It came with Serato, but I've purchased the Rekordbox DJ.

I'll be having a gig next week, where I can't place my controller and I was wondering what is the best way to connect the CDJ-NXS 2 + DJM NXS 2?

I've made a research and noticed many people are using the HID mode.

Do I need to purchase the DVS expansion to have the HID mode working?

Is there a way I can connect the whole setup using just one USB cable?

You do not need the DVS expansion, as that is different from HID.  

You need:

  • 2 EA - open USB ports on your laptop
  • 2 EA - USB A-male to B-male cords
  1. Plug both USB A-male into laptop
  2. Plug both USB B-male into back of each CDJ
  3. On CDJ 1, press Link on each CDJ --> Select Control Mode --> Turn knob until it allows gives you a Deck option.  Select Deck 1.
  4. Repeat for CDJ 2.

If you only have one USB port on your laptop, buy a powered USB splitter.  I bought an Anker A7S13.  It's a 7 way 3.0 USB splitter, and it works perfectly.
