The unit will still provide 0.5A of power to the port, as there's no data usage it won't do anything, and it certainly won't harm the player.

Is it safe to use one USB port on XDJ-RX for a light?
Am I taking any risk by plugging in a small USB powered gooseneck into one of the two USB ports to illuminate the controller? I tried it briefly and it seems to work but I don't want to risk voiding my warrenty...
