How to relocate tracks in a playlist that exist in collection

Hi,

My playlists are full of tracks that cannot be located and show the orange exclamation mark. I have all the required tracks saved in a single parent folder on my desktop.

I've managed to remove the orange exclamation mark from the relevant tracks in my rekord box collection by using the relocate function through the same file path. When I try to play the track in the playlist it comes up with 'track loading error - the file was not able to be found'. When I 'relocate' the file it says 'file already exists in collection'.

I am looking to export the playlists on to a new flash drive through sync manager. How can I achieve this? Going out my mind...

TIA

The fact it says the track already exists in the collection means you somehow imported it a second time from the new location before you relocated.

Try sorting by title, remove the "new" copy of it, then use the relocation tool.

I've followed all the instructions to move my RB database to my new mac and reviewed it a few times. Like many others, I am getting this problem with the orange exclamation mark appearing on a stack of tracks, right-clicking to locate / auto locate the file and then 'File already exists". Yes, I can see that Rekordbox has a reference to my itunes playlists BUT won't locate the files in my Rekordbox playlists.. beacuse it sees it as a duplicate. My question is this... If the files already exist, why can't RB simply point to them to load the file into the playlist. Is this not a fairly common software feature?

The reason why I ask, is that I create RB playlists out of my itunes playlists, the files don't need duplication, just referencing to where they are saved.

@Amanda > Yes, this can be done, but you need to remove them first. What's happened is you've imported them once, moved them, then imported them a second time. rekordbox doesn't see this as "Oh hey, same song, new location" as there is the distinct possibility a DJ wants to have multiple copies coming from different locations existing together in the collection. The solution is as noted above; remove the duplicate entry (likely the newer one which is typically less likely to have hot cues or other grid adjustments), then use the relocation feature to match the missing entries to the physical file.

I would also suggest you check that iTunes / Music is not set to manage the file locations for you (in the preferences of that application).
