Backing up Rekordbox Library + Files separately in dropbox

I've just gone through the process of moving my iTunes and rekordbox libraries to a dropbox folder so that everything I add to my collection is ultimately backed up to my dropbox account. I use iTunes sync so the two collections are intertwined.

I'd also like to back up the actual rekordbox taxonomy as well and have done this with the File>Library>Backup Library option. The resulting zip file is now sitting in dropbox as well. I chose NOT to backup the music files during this process however as I assumed it was redundant since my library already exists in Dropbox and is being backed up through iTunes.

I'm just wondering, is this the right move? If I have a situation where my computer implodes will it be easy to set up Rekordbox and all of my playlists/cues/etc. on a new computer? Or is it advised that I do the Rekordbox backup and copy the music files as well?

And if anyone is interested I decided to do this per the advice of Avalon Emerson in this Resident Advisor podcast. Really interesting listening about how different DJs organize their tunes: https://www.residentadvisor.net/podcast-episode.aspx?exchange=382

Here's my $0.02...

With your database relocated to Dropbox, it will sync and thus be backed-up to their service, but I would still recommend having a zip backup (created as you describe) sitting somewhere as well.

The music already being in Dropbox is helpful, and no, you wouldn't need to make another backup as those files exist locally as well as in the cloud. (That said, I keep 5 copies of my music, including 2 different cloud services).

Noted. Thank you and looking forward to someday having 5 copies myself!
