...and is a horrible idea, never mind the fact that most (if not all) streaming audio providers don't allow the use of the content for public broadcast by a DJ. Yes, even Spotify and their integration with Algoriddim's 'djay' apps / software is not technically permitted for public performance.

Will Pioneer partner with Soundcloud and Tidal? Understand the licensing concern brought up, however wouldn't you want to offer similar capabilities with popular streaming sites?

Why not allowing it for non-public performances? I think there are many people who'd love to use this feature in a private environment.

@Martin > How would we / they police what is a public vs. private use of the service?

The same way as others solutions do: You don't have to know at all - at least if you make it the obligation of the DJ to comply with the respective laws and terms of use.

If there is reasonable doubt of breaking the law in a particular case, the police can be instructed to investigate and find out. In any case the obligation to comply and any liability would lie with the person operating the software.

There are many examples where software could be used in a criminal way, there's no substantial difference in our case.

There is a chance of liability in providing the facility to do so.

Either way, it's not my decision to make, and those who do make the decisions would have more insight as to these issues.
