External Hard Drive with Multiple Laptops

I have 3 laptops (2 macs and 1 windows)

 

My music files are on a 4TB external portable drive (Thunderbolt SSD)

 

  • How can i use this external drive interchangeably with all the laptops preferably  in a plug n play version just like i currently do with my Serato DJ Pro library
  • With Serato once i plug my drive into the new computer all my crates and tracks show up without needing to do anything extra

 

I will be grateful for a step by step instruction on how to do this if at all its possible

 

  • I will also like to know if its possible to use a clone of my external hard drive in a plug and play version as well. E.g. i use a program called Carbon Copy Cloner to make an exact clone of my main external ssd to another 4tb drive.
  • This is just incase something happens to my main external or if i decide to clone to a higher capacity drive

My video - yes, still valid. I put all my music on my external, have the database on the external, and move it between computers without issue. The first time you load the database on rekordbox you may need to select it from the preferences, but after that it will remember to look there first.

Yes, CCC is great to create a copy for backup. Kudos to you for considering that! :)
