Rekordbox and New Laptop issues

Hi all, iv swapped laptops and im having trouble importing my music...

I backed up my collection, then restored it to my new laptop. Its showing the waveforms and cue points... but when i drag a track in to the player a red bar comes up and it wont load?
I then imported the playlists from their new folder location, but then the cue points cant be found!

If i click display missing files, i can only import mp3s.. but i need to import the mp3s in their individual folders / genres.

Can anyone help please?
I presume theres a hidden directory setting i need to re direct?

@Chris > What you should have done was a backup / restore, but as you're already between a rock and a hard place, you can effectively follow the instructions here (it's similar for PC). Be sure to replace the old path to the user directory with the new, and all the waveforms, cue points, and album art, should return.

Unfortunately the old laptop was a family members so the directory name is different. How do i solve this issue please?

No, but everything is very similar; you can find the file you need to edit here:

C:\Users\<yourusername>\AppData\Roaming\Pioneer\rekordbox\rekordbox3.settings

The lines within the file you need to edit will have the slashes going \ instead of /, but that's okay, all you need to edit is the <yourusername> portion of those lines anyhow.

Open this file:

C:\Users\<yourusername>\AppData\Roaming\Pioneer\rekordbox\rekordbox3.settings

Edit the lines that begin with:

<VALUE name="pioneerDirectory"
<VALUE name="masterDbDirectory"
<VALUE name="itunesLibraryFile"
<VALUE name="bridgeImportedLibraryFile"
<VALUE name="SamplerSaveDirectory"
<VALUE name="RecordSaveDirectory"

Those will all have a file path pointing to your database / settings files, which includes something that looks like "C:\Users\<youroldusername>\" -- all you do is change <youroldusername> to <yournewusername>, whatever it is.

So go to my old laptop, do that, then export a backup with music, then restore it in new laptop?

Or do that in new laptop?

Do this on the NEW laptop. To be honest, I'm surprised it didn't do that automatically. You said you did a backup/restore, but did you do that through the application itself?

My old laptop was username rachel, my new laptop is username chris
I clicked back up collection within rekordbox on old laptop
I need to rename the collection chris instead of rachel and then make rekordbox recognise the music with the cue points etc

Do you understand now?
