900NXS2 Output Compatibility Questions

I would like to know if the “Record out” and the “master 2 out” outputs on the 900NXS2 are “balanced” or “unbalanced”. I am having trouble hooking it up to a house system that has RCA inputs that takes a signal from an iPhone or iPad. The house system feeds a large venue with 3 separate rooms. I have a regular PA hooked up to my main XLR outs on stage with me. The house system sounds fine when you use a 1/8 headphone jack out from a iPhone to RCA, but when you use any of the outputs on the 900NXS2, the sound quality either diminishes dramatically or is too quite. I am open to using something line a DI box or line level shifter, but would like any suggestions. It would probably work best outputting from the headphone jack, but then the crowd would hear everything I’m cueing up and I would have to leave the cues on for each of my channels. The current workaround is using the booth out, then sent to a line level booster, then to the RCA jack. The result is volume but with a large drop off in sound quality. That’s why I’m wondering if the master 2 out or REC out would solve any impedance issues and voltage issues. I know the master out 2 has less decibels in output that the main master, so that has a problem as well. Please feel free to give any suggestions you may have. I’m open to using any of the outputs including the “send out” if that works. Thank you.

The RCA outs are unbalanced, single-ended by definition, which should produce superior frequency response, phasing, and transients to balanced XLR/TRS in most cases.  Balanced, while it does have the utility of a larger hypothetical total dynamic range due to its higher output and higher receiving input at the differential opamp, is difficult to match properly the + and - components reliably, repeatedly, and staying so closely matched over time.  This can be seen over a scope.  Balanced is intended for long runs and/or around a great deal of EMI/RFI interference, not as inherently superior sounding in most cases.  It's built to reject interference when that is needed, but there's a reason unbalanced is the preferred connection route on short runs.

As for your particular needs, that really comes down to the equipment you're piping the DJM into, the levels it wants, and how long you're running these cables.  There are output settings under the utility for the mixer to change the post-knob output levels.  There are a variety of outputs for you to choose from.  And you also have the option of getting some y-splitters and adapters if you need more outputs from one particular pair that is more suitable for sending to multiple gear than some other that might be the wrong connection type or level no matter what you do.
