Reinstalling Windows (Moving Music files/Collection/Database)

Hello,

Just have an quick question to be sure before i go and reinstall my windows 10. (I have about 500gb of music, everything sorted in playlists etc.) I want to reinstall my windows and after that instal rekordbox and continue. The thing is that i need to move my whole collection (including playlists etc) to my external hard drive. I bascially want to have everything from last year on the external and the new stuff on my internal hard drive. Is it possible? Im checking this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hNbZEqRo_tU and there you can see that he moved the database to the external hard drive, but i kinda want to use both my internal and external drives at the same time. Can i then follow these instructions?

Thank you for your answer

If you want to have the music stored on the external drive, then you can follow my video guide - and if you want to use internally stored music, you can still add that to the library (whether the database itself is stored externally or internally).

If the database is external, moving the drive to another computer won't have access to the songs that were stored on the internal drive.

If the database is internal, removing the external drive will remove access to those songs, likewise, moving that drive to another computer won't have your library with it.

All depends what you want to do!

Okay, so what I'd suggest there would be to move the music AND database (as shown in the video), then what you could do is once you get over to the new computer, move the database from the external to the new internal drive. All of the old music files would live on the external, but the database and new music would be internal.
