S9 Dead spot centre of X Fader

Hi Guys

I have an issue with my X Fader .

It has a dead spot in the centre , if I reverse the Fader the dead spot shifts position slightly

Deck 1 and 2 cannot be faded out using the X Fader

I'm using Rane Twelves with my S9

Please in desperate need of help as I can't play any gigs

I have the latest firmware

Latest Serato DJ too

I have  MBP 2012

Thanks

It's a non-contact fader, so there could certainly be something else that has failed. The lifespan of that kind of fader isn't so much about the number of cycles, but moreso other abuse it may face (such as the fader stem being bent, slammed into either end, things spilled inside, component failure).

I looked on the parts page and couldn't see a full crossfader assembly, so it may be best to contact Pioneer DJ technical support in your region to have a local shop get you the right parts.

Does the audio cut out completely at that point?

Does it happen with audio on a line-input as well or just through USB?

Thanks for the reply .

I checked it through and the problem was exactly the same with an external turnable running through the line in with Serato DJ closed .

I did spray a small amount of Servisol Super 10 switch cleaning lube as that has cleared up problems with other mixers , but I'm not sure if it's needed on the S9 XFader ?

After about an hour I decided to have a look under the faceplate...

I'm very comfortable working on the S9 as 5 months ago the XFader stem snapped and I had to replace it with an Infinity fader no problem at all .

So I began to take the faceplate off to access the XFader. Pretty much as soon as I clipped off the XFader knob everything started working fine, I took the plate off and everything looked fine. It has been fine so far , I am scratch DJ and I've worn the paint off the XFader face plate so it gets lots of use and I don't know the lifespan of it ?

Could it be the XFader breaking down , I don't mind replacing it if that's what it needs as I don't want it to happen in a set . The S9 is over 2 years old so I get parts may need replacing .

Just looking for the best advise so I'm not left high and dry in a set.

Many thanks

I'm struggling with this now as I've spoke to a UK Stockist and the XFader doesn't come as a complete assembly , its made up of loads of bits ?

I can't take the mixer to gigs as I can't trust it until I've replaced the Xfader and I don't see how a service centre can find a fault that isn't always there , plus I need the mixer every weekend for work so it's hard to be without it .

I could put an innofader in there but then I lose tension control and I don't know if the trim works via my Mac .

I have a very expensive mixer that I can't rely on , I really need some help on this

Thanks

The mixer is still on finance so I don't know if that makes any difference and what is the warranty

Ok so It's now thursday and all my gigs start for the weekend and I've had no reply to my last comment . How is it I can spend over £1000 on a mixer and can't get any proper answers .

I'm not asking for much , I even changed the fader less than 2 years of having the S9 for an infinity fader because the Pioneer fader snapped , which is pretty poor !

Now I'm having to look round at an Innofader because it's something I can change myself and know I'll be when I'm playing a gig !

All I want is to buy the original Xfader and change it myself , but the service centres say it's in lots of different bits so a complete XFader isn't available ?!

This has to be the worst service I've seen I have a mixer I can't use , nice one Pioneer I could have got this sorted for the weekend but due to the lack of help I now have to go out and buy the equivalent mixer in rane because you have failed to help .

I'd be interested to see if I actually get any help from you as I'm feel let down !

@Anthony > I'm sorry you feel let down, if we had a single-component fader to sell you, would that be the solution you're looking for? Can I also ask who you were in contact with? Was it Pioneer DJ proper or an authorized service shop? I'm asking because I'd like to pass this feedback to the support teams.

You said yourself that the XF has seen heavy use and the mixer is two years old. Much like a car's tires, the "consumable" or "wear and tear" components will require replacement, sooner if they are used a lot, later if they aren't.

Yes ! That's all I ever wanted , I've had to buy an innofader to get me by as I can't risk it cutting out . But if you can sort out a fader I will be very happy as I love the fader !

Thanks

@Anthony > Sorry if there was a misunderstanding -- I'm not suggesting that I'm able to provide you with a replacement fader, I was simply asking if it was preferable to have a single "unit" to replace (which could be more expensive, and replacing elements which don't require replacement) vs. the separate components themselves.

Could you please also provide details on the support as requested above?
