Audio Technica LP120 & XDJ RX2 Volume mismatch

Hi,

First of all i am aware of other posts on this subject but none of them have come to any solution for me.

I have an audio Technical LP120 and I'm connecting it to my RX2 via the phono ports. The LP120 is set to Phono on the pre amp. However I'm having to trim up all of the sound. The trim nob is at around 4 O'clock.

Was wondering if there is anything I can put in line or a different way of setting up to improve the volume.

I am using the stock Audio Technica Cartridge.

Why is it an issue that the trim is at 4 o'clock? The trim/gain should be set to wherever is necessary to boost or attenuate the incoming signal for that channel.

A phono device must be connected to a phono input, as there is an RIAA phono pre-amplifier on those inputs to convert the signal to a line level for internal use.

Some of the vinyl I have is quieter than others and having the trim there limits the amount of extra trim I can have.

Is this the standard for most turntables when connected to the mixer or just the LP120?

@Ross > Yep, and that's normal - not all vinyl is created equal. You may consider trying a different cartridge as some produce higher levels of pickup / output.

As above, just adjust the trim / gain as necessary to obtain a nominal input signal on that channel depending on the source.
