+/- 6% harmonic mixing

Hi.

I like to use harmonic mixing technics in my sets.

I have been trying to figure out something that I  havent come with the solution yet.

Fact.

If we speed up/slow down a track a +/- 6% the key will increase/decrease exactly 1 semitone.

given this I would like to know if there is a way to create a related tracks search that brings me all the tracks that will match my current track using this rule

the criteria should be something like

1-show me tracks that are at a 4% to 8% faster BPM one semitone higher, so when I match them to the playing track will mix in Key

2-show me tracks that are at a -4% to -8% slower BPM one semitone lower, so when I match them to the playing track will mix in Key

Note: Im trying to avoid key sync as you give up some sound quality in the process

what is this useful for??

it helps when transitioning from 128, 130 BPM trance to 136, 138 Trance

Thanks

If you're using Nexus equipment you can safely use Master Tempo if you don't exceed pitching +-6%. There will of course be some degradation of sound quality but it will be very hard, if not impossible, to hear in a club environment.

But if you frequently play on older gear, or as you wrote, don't want to use Master Tempo you can use my old trick:

1) Sort your tracks according to BPM and choose a BPM value that's roughly in the middle.

2) Re-tag all tracks that are more than 3% faster or slower with one semitone up / down.

Now you will have a collection with keys adapted to pitch, not perfect but surprisingly ok. Note that you will not have to play at your "middle tempo", it's just to decide which tracks to re-tag.

Thanks, about he equipment Im using a DDJ 400 with rekordbox.
I have tried a similar method before,
I sort my tracks by bpm and refine the search using my tag filter and just search for the key by eye.
Another method is that I have intelligent playlist for each key and its relative major/minor sorted by bpm depending on the track playing I will know which playlist select and what range of bpm look around.

I just hope that Pioneer reads this and pass the request to the developers and hopefully include this feature on a future version
