Rekordbox deleting playlists from USB stick exported on other computer

Hi there,

I have two computers: my desktop, which I have my library on, and my laptop, which I take with me to gigs. However, I have a problem.

Whenever I connect a USB stick (that I've exported on the desktop) to the laptop, all playlists are deleted from it. They appear in the software for a second or so and then they vanish and are deleted. The actual tracks still appear under All Tracks under the Devices dropdown, but the playlists are gone.

The only way to get them back is to re-export on my desktop. I've tried reinstalling Rekordbox on the laptop but the problem is still there. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

@Barnaby > rekordbox allows you to connect a "guest" USB drive to a library and you could even play from the contents, it wouldn't erase the contents of the drive unless there's something else at play. Are you in EXPORT mode or PERFORMANCE mode?

Are you possibly using the SYNC MANAGER?

Ah got it - I had the 'Synchronize playlists with a device' box checked on the laptop! Thanks a lot for the help! :)

Hey, I'm having the same problem. I have my main library on my desktop computer, but when I use sync manager to export playlists to a USB drive from the desktop to use on my laptop, they are deleted as soon as I connect the USB drive to the laptop. I have 'Synchronize playlists with a device' unchecked on the laptop but it seems to activate itself once I use the USB drive. Can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

Hey Rob - I believe the 'Synchronize playlists' setting is saved on a per-drive basis. Try connecting the drive in Export mode, immediately opening Sync Manager and disabling it and then proceeding as normal. I found that this worked reliably for me :)
