HID mode sound quality

So just recently been playing with rekordbox DJ performance mode and HID mode with my CDJ 900's. However there is a massive difference in the sound quality between using tracks through a USB stick in a line connection and the sound quality through a usb connection using HID mode. The sound loses its dynamics, sound flat, loses its crispness. I set each deck up. One to hid mode and one with a normal line/ phone cable connection, played the same track and the difference is massive. Is there any settings on rekordbox DJ that can resolve this ?? I'm really loving using my pioneers cdj's using software, but surely the sound quality shouldn't be sacrificed because of it??
