License key rekordbox

Hey guys!

I'm buying a second hand DDJ-400 to step up my game. I do this so I can roll in the business and learn some more about dj'ing with controllers. Hence the question for the license key transfer.

I saw some other treads about this topic, but I can't clarify the answers. (One guy was simply shouting at you guys).

The question: Is deregistering the same as transfering an account? I would like to be completely sure about the purchase. How do you deregister his license key? Is it simply by going to rekordbox and click the "deactivate" button.

Or do I have to complete the complex procedure on this site? https://rekordbox.com/en/support/unsubscribe.php

Thanks in advance!

@Tom > Unfortunately when a DJ decides to sell their controller, they're not obligated to sell the rekordbox license with it, as they may keep it to use with a CDJ & DJM (for example). If the user intended on giving you the license, they would have to deactivate it from their computer(s) first, then you can activate it on your own account.

If they are unwilling to deactivate it or sell it, we can't force-deactivate it from their account, you would have to purchase a license or subscription for yourself.

Yes, but I'm talking about the procedure of transfering the license key. Does it involve the steps on the link I added or is it simply clicking the button in Rekordbox' settings?

It just requires the user to go into their rekordbox preferences, and click the Deactivate button on the License page.
