Serato with Pioneer DDJSR Keeps Crashing

Has been working fine for 3 years, then recently while mixing lose all sound and decks start lagging. Tried to up date firmware and was told i would need to download Java, but my macbook wont allow me to open or run it and the problem continues. What do I do?, Do i need to buy another controller? The DDJSR is now discontinued.
