Sync playlists across collections

Have my main Imac where I obtain and organise all my music, and a windows laptop to take on the road for performing.

Using an external database on a USB stick to sync the tracks between the two, however I need to be able to sync the playlists across both so that if I create it in rekordbox on the iMax, I can load it up on the windows laptop.

I found a video that explains exactly how to do this using the "export library as xml" feature, though it doesn't seem to work across mac-windows.

I get the message "load error. this is not a supported format."

Is there a workaround to this or do I need an apple laptop?
