XDJ-XZ glossy finish... Be VERY careful....

Hello,

I wanted to save some people the sad face I currently have. Same goes for the XDJ-RX and RX2 I guess.

If you want to remove any fingerprints or dust on the glossy finished parts. (Mic + Master section and Display sourroundings) Think twice about how to do it.

I receivd my unit yesterday and put it on the desk. Mixed for 4 hours and then called it a day. I then noticed a big smudge fingerprint on the backside of the unit. (Back of the Dipslay where the big Pioneer DJ logo sits.)

I took a microfiber cloth and breathed against the smudge, then wiped it gently.

Fingerprints are gone but one million micro scratches are on it now. Not visible from distance. But from close distance under the right light it can be seen.

This kind of bugs me as I fear it will be the same on the Mic and Master section at some point. Maybe a even softer cloth and some liquid could have prevented this. But if the cloth used can scratch this... puhh not ideal to say the least.

As future advice for Pioneer DJ. Yes it looks nice and shiny. But it is a device meant to be touched and interacted with. So the surface should be a bit more prone against fingerprints and cleaning of those.

Everything else on this unit is spot on and I love it. As I get easily obsessed with minor things like these scracthes I sometimes hate myself hahaha. But I guess they do not affect the performance in any way and also dont ruin the look from distance, so it is possible to live with it.

EDIT:

Have just noticed that the panel around the display of my 3 year old xdj 700 also have fine scratches that i never noticed before. Guess i am too sensitive now. But a matt finish without scratches would be bit cooler. I will just continue using it as I was before and stop twisting my head at wierd angles to see it :) as it has scratches already now at least i wont have to worry about getting them anymore.
