HELP really bad distortion

Just bought this for my 11 year old son for Christmas, but the distortion is quite bad. He's running it through his chrome book. He can't use it through his iPhone 7 as he won't be able to connect the speaker that we've bought for him as there's no headphone jack. Any help would be most grateful

You didn't mention which model, but no headphone jack... I'm going to guess the DDJ-200?

Unfortunately that's not compatible with a Chromebook. The DDJ-200 itself contains a split-cable connector for the headphone and master output. If the speaker you're planning to use doesn't have an aux input, I understand that would be a problem, otherwise the connector would go from the phone > split cable > speaker.
