mbp usb c to usb a exporting

i just got a 2019 macbook pro running catalina 10.15.3 and after importing and analyzing tracks into my collection i hooked up 2 different usb c adapters trying to get my usbs to read so i could export. i am on rekordbox 5.8.3 which should work fine with my os. the usbs are all formatted to fat32 and i even grabbed a fresh one to make sure. the usbs pop up on my macbook in finder just fine but only show up in my RB software within explorer. no files can be added this way and this is driving be bonkers. my old macbook crashed but everything worked just fine all these years. i have a few gigs fast approaching and i need help guys. thanks for any and all help in this matter. i hope i am just overlooking something very silly.
