Xdj rx2 phono

I have the xdj rx2 and when I connect my turntables(technics1210s) the same track I have on mp3 and vinyl the vinyl sounds quite muddy and low volume compared to the track on mp3.I tested this with my decks connected to my djm250mk2 with one DVS and the other same track on vinyl and they were the same. Can anyone tell me if it a problem with the phono preamps in the rx2 or the phono inputs are made of lesser quality in the all in one units.

Have you verified that you have connected the turntable to the phono input and not the line input? That's a common cause for what you describe.

Yes there’re both connected to the phone plugs on the back plus both grounding wires are connected too.I did clean the stylus and that made a big difference but I suppose there’s so many variables with vinyl etc with some records louder than others.I can’t see it being a fault with the rx2 as I can hear the record clearly and if it was broken it would either stop working completely or there would be lots of distortion

There certainly are a lot of differences with vinyl so it's not exactly a fair comparison against the digital version which will undoubtably sound more "crisp".
