Sorry, the XML export has been removed and there is no information available to the public regarding the database.
Did Rekordbox 6 remove the option to export a collection as XML? Or did it move?
Also, is there any technical information about the new database format?
Thanks

same request here,
thanks
Thats real sad, I used that feature a lot.
This feature should be brought back ASAP
How can we move the collection to an other computer AND to save the folder structure, without songs getting mapped into folders per artist (like it happens when you export to USB)..
If that's not possible, you need to bring this option back... Otherwise people are stuck with their collection on an old device and they have no option to switch it to a new laptop without losing the original folder structure behind it!!!
My solution there would be move the entire music folder structure to an external drive, then to the other computer... nothing lost in terms of organization.
Thanks Pulse... So if I do that and then use the option File --> Library --> Backup Library
And "Do you want to backup music files as well?" --> NO
That would save me :-)
Thanks.... I thought when you press "YES" on the last one, that your folder structure gets messed up, like when you export to a USB to put in the CDJs (music then gets sorted per Artist folder)
Thanks!
What happens if you say "YES" to back-up the music, it doesn't actually move the music, it copies it to a folder ... with the screwed-up structure.
@Pulse: Please ask the core development team to bring back the XML feature or develop a more open API / file format. This isolates Rekordbox from the rest of the software audio community and ecosystem tools that many DJs rely on, and will force many people to look at alternatives like Mixxx (open source) and Traktor / Serato.
I'd actually subscribe to the cloud service in RB6 if this feature was available. Until then, I'm sticking with RB5.
If anyone needs the XML, there is a way to get it. Rekordcloud can access all your data in Rekordbox 6 and with rekordcloud you can simply download your library in Rekordbox XML format.
Please bring back that XML-Feature! I programmed myself a app to export all my music for my car and mobile phone.
I have to stick with rb5 anyway for other features, but killing xml-export is not a good future.
Pioneer needs to admit they killed the XML export because of Denon.
Hi folks,
I must add that I too am very disappointed in the decision of Pioneer to remove the XML export feature in Rekordbox 6.0.
I am the developer of the DJ Data Converter app:
https://github.com/digital-dj-tools/dj-data-converter/
And because of this change, my app will no longer be able to read data from Rekordbox for conversion into other formats.
I really don't understand the business logic of Pioneer DJ here, nothing in the XML format is commercially sensitive or gives "secret sauce" to competitors. The XML format is a publicly documented interface, completely separate to the private implementation of their database (now encrypted I believe) and the binary, closed source implementation of their algorithms.
If the XML format was commercially sensitive, it would never have been available in the first place no? Not to mention that the ability to import XML is still present.
So my conclusion is that this is really bad form. I add my weight to lobby for this feature to be re-instated - Pioneer DJ, please consider the smaller businesses that are struggling to cope, especially in the current climate, when you are making product decisions, don't only consider the larger businesses with whom you compete.
The current DJ software eco-system and limited options available is in a bad enough state as it is, without any additional new bad behaviour in this regard.
Perhaps us DJ's can create a public petition to lobby for this feature to make a return?
Thanks,
Alex.
This is pretty terrible. It cuts the community out of your product, and the currelocation tool is just awful. Please take another look at this stance.
Any Updates here?
This XML-Feature is one of some reasons that hold me away from rekordbox 6
(I developed myself a app that exports my playlists to my car usb stick and mobile phone)
Sorry, no information available at this time.
I assume Pioneer thinks this is the way forward to step away from XML. They could be right.
nice would be to have the export / conversion option back.
@Christiaan (recordcloud). Nice work. Will this still be working when encryption is changed by Pioneer?
and I’m I right that your process is to red the DB, make XML out of it?
Anyway, nice work and great software you have build anyway. ;-)
@Pioneer: Will be this export/conversion option still available in the future?
thanks to you all.
@Marcel > Per above, sorry - no information available.
@Pulse: Tnx 4 response. Hope you'll work it out. ;-)
Also would love either an XML export or some other open format, hope you guys find some sense
