Have you tried toggling it off then back on?
Seems you're having two preference-related issues (the other of going to performance mode every time).

Model name of Pioneer DJ product used with rekordbox, Firmware/Driver version: DDJ-1000 1.07. RB 6.01
Details: The Colour of the played track resets every time after closing the program. This happens despite the setting not being enabled to reset it on exiting. Can't confirm if this happened on 6.0 as well.
During a live stream yesterday I didn't make the connection that tracks I had played the day before weren't marked as played anymore. It wasn't until today that I noticed this.
Expected behaviour: reset Colour of played tracks unticked (not enabled). Exit RB. Start RB colour of played tracks are still present.
What actually happens: reset Colour of played tracks unticked (not enabled). Exit RB. Start RB colour of played tracks have been reset.
Workaround: No workaround discovered so far. You lose this visual reminder

That's odd. I toggled it a few times and it kept resetting. I restarted my OS and now it seems to stick.
