My Tag on an external drive

My Tag on an external drive

Hi,

I've read several topics that came close to answer my question, but actually didn't.

I currently have my primary database on my computer, which I use to sort and tag my tracks.
I synchronized several playlists on an external database. The idea is to use this USB stick to play elsewhere, but when I log it into a new computer I can't acces my tags anymore (I got the proposition to "synchronize with my tag" which would seem to lead to the suppression of all my tags, not a good thing).

My question is, how to access my tags on a different computer while using my USB stick.

I've read that setting this external drive as a primary database could do the trick, but I'd like to keep the computer as primary. It's more in line with my work method, and it seems too complicated too keep track of the modifications with two primry databases.

Hope you'll be able to help me !

Short answer - you can't. The MyTag data on the export device is not intended to be read by another collection. You can read it on a player, but not another rekordbox database. Sorry.

Thank you for your answer.

It's unfortunate because my friend and I are both using your players (DDJ-400 + Rekordbox), we spent time tagging our collection and we are limited by this.

I can imagine that it would be too big a change for the next versions, but would it be possible to allow an export of the tags in an .xml file  ? (tags are not there in the current collection export)
That shouldn't be too hard to implement and this way we could sort the tracks of the external drive, without needing the second computer with the original database.
