Is there a way to record the output of the mixer WITHOUT recording the microphone. Foer instance if I'm recording a set and I need to say a few things over the microphone is there a way of NOT recording the mic with the music?

There are two options for disabling the mic output, one is for the master, the other is for the booth output. If you need the mic to go out to the speakers but not the recording, I would suggest disabling it to the booth and using that as your output recording source. See page 18 of the owner's manual on changing the mic output preferences.
