CDJ2000 Nexus + RB6 - Control Mode Not Connecting

Gear

  • CDJ2000 Nexus (Latest firmware)
  • DJM850 (Latest firmware)
  • Rekordbox DJ 6
  • New USB cables connected to new USB hub
  • MBP 16" fully loaded

Problem

I wanted to test out the Ableton Link in RB6 with my Maschine. However, I can't connect my CDJs in HID mode. I know the cables work because I just had the decks in HID with Traktor Pro this afternoon.

Steps

  1. With RB6 open in Performance Mode (and recognizing the DJM850)...
  2. Connected by USB (with or without the ethernet cables connected)
  3. Turn on CDJ
  4. Click Link button
  5. Push dial in
  6. Screen stuck at "Control Mode" USB MIDI with image of CDJ and Laptop

It would be great to use RB6 and not Traktor. Please help.

@Shane > Unfortunately the DJM-850 and CDJ-2000NXS are supported devices, but neither of them are hardware-unlock devices for rekordbox 6 (see the chart here). You would require the Core or Creative plan to use them with rekordbox 6.

perfect :) that was the issue. everything works fine now. Curious, is there any discussion on configuring what we see on the CDJ e.g. countdown to next cue, name of track, comment, etc?
