DJS 1000 hints and tricks... Just what is up the wizard's sleeve...??

I read on another forum 'you can chop a sample as its sampling to multiple pads'.

How would one go about doing this? Does it just mean by slicing, sequencing, and resampling?

One thing i would like to be able to do easily would be to freestyle on the slice or scale pads and be able to record that in as a new sample. I think the only way to do it is to record it as a sequence and then mute all the tracks , play the sequence back and resample to another pad.

Next thing, when i mute a track/part on my blue valve electribe i can freestlye with that part when that part is muted. For example, within a pattern, i could have a set melody playing along to the drum parts, i then mute that melody part and can do a freestyle solo with that same instrument, then drop back into the pre-programmed melody. On the DJS 1000 when i mute a pad/track/part, I cannot then manually trigger this pad. This is a frustrating limitation to performance. I have to create another scene/pattern (still not got the correct lingo down for which of these means which so bear with me) to switch to, copy everything over but have that pad/part/track blank in the sequencer in order to solo, so to speak.

Back to the slicing, it would also be useful to treat different slices in isolation better with reverse/fx etc for more interesting processing but i guess most of that can be achieved through resampling also. Just fiddly when this is supposed to be performance orientated. Transient slicing as well i figure should be a given.

I feel like along with Normalization that a lot of peeps are clawing for, some other basic audio pre-processing of the samples before saving could be incorporated similar to basic Audacity plugins, just to prep samples so other performance fx can then be used more creatively.

I would also like better explanations of the use of the LFO function as im sure this is a pretty powerful tool but it is not explained enormously well and could do with some better examples. Really want to start unleashing this thing to full potential!

Thank you

By this i mean that when in resample mode, at the point where you are recording into the sample edit screen, if you could then access all functions of the performance mode (not just the play sequence function). Like, the one pad you are sampling into is selected, but what if there was a stage after this, where the pad still stays selected as the assigned pad for the sample, but the rest of the pads are opened up for a freestyle input including the ribbon and FX?

I didnt mention before that motion sequence/automation stuff for the FX (like the Electribe) would also be good. So gestures could be programmed for each track or groups of tracks over a pattern, saved, and then different FX applied. This is quite a big limitation that would allow for greater progression of loops/sequences within a performance and expression for buildups to changes in scenes/patterns.
