CDJ2000NX2 freezeing

I have a pair of the CDJ2000nx2 which have been brilliant since they first came out. I always ran the two players linked with player 2 using the link to player one, sharing tracks from player 1. The tracks were just in a simple format, not even rekordbox.

Around 8 months ago I started to notice that my player would randomly freeze up on tracks which have previously played perfectly fine. I have since upgraded the firmware on the players, re-done a pair of identical memory sticks purchased as FAT32, (32Gb) and every track has been analysed on rekordbox.

Here is the problem, again tracks on BOTH the sticks play on the players, but occasionally when I'm mixing and busy with the decks, I go to load a track on the player and it wont load, this then after 10 seconds sends the other deck into emergency loop. Then I have two decks which are both frozen on me.

I don't believe its the USB as I use to run the decks linked for many years, but im really confused about this. The decks have always been in a coffin case, never constantly plugged in and out so I cannot see the cable being an issue. For the record thou I have changed the link cable.

I really don't know why after all these years they are now starting to play me up, but its getting to the point where I don't feel they are reliable and I just don't know what else to do.

Basic troubleshooting...

If it only ever happens on the linked deck, regardless of which one, then the issue is likely the ethernet connection (either the cable or one of the jacks).

If it happens directly on the player itself, that rules out the link, and would point to the USB drive or the player. To determine which is the issue there, swap the USB drive to the other player and if the problem occurs again on that deck, it's the USB drive.

Hello,

Well I have changed the lead to a brand new spare one which came with the players so it shouldn’t be the lead. The USB memory sticks were brought following advice from another user who has been using the same. It is already formatted to the fat32.

The issue is it happens on random tracks and on both decks you get the same issue, it’s just pot luck which deck the issue occurs on and then the linked deck end up going into emergency loop.

When I don’t have the decks linked, I don’t seem to get a problem, it’s almost like when two decks share one USB it’s too much for the master player ( with the usb stick ) and it just goes into fault mode.

If you have some good quality SD cards laying around, maybe try exporting the same playlists to the SD cards and play off that for a while. If the problem persists it might be something with the data.

But I am also interested as to know what model of flashdrives you are using,

Hi guys,

So we have used various USB sticks. Following advice from other nexus users, I am using a SanDisk ultra fit 3.1 Flash Drive - 32GB.  If you can recommend a better one or something more suitable please do fire away. I don't want to use SD cards really as I don't have that option to connect on the macs.

I have just received the decks back from the company I brought them off 5 years ago and they ran a report and checked it all over and they said the player looks and performs really good. The ports all look perfect, the connection cable was all checked and works perfect also.
