Changing file names and relocating in Rekordbox

Hello,

I'm using Rekordbox 5.8.3 on Mac OS Mojave. I recently had to change the names of all my music files from %artist% - %title% to %title% - %artist%, but since then Rekordbox requires me to relocate all of my files. They are all in the same folder, so I tried to use the "Missing File" option, but it always says that Rekordbox did not find any file (though every time it finds the songs through which I started the relocation).

The change in file name does not pose any problem when I relocate one song at a time, but as soon as there are 2 or more songs it doesn't work.

Is there any way to resolve this?

Thanks

I'll just let you know that relocation works for missing files that have been moved, not renamed. If you want to do a full rename relocation, you're going to have to find them one at a time or you'll have to use an XML work-around which I won't get into here due to the complexity and not-officially-supported nature of it.

Hey Pulse, can you please let us know where we can find instructions or a resource for this workaround? The fact that it exists tells me that there are more than just a handful of people who need it.

I'm on RB-6.

I have been DJing for 20+ years, and because of the fact that I started when I was a teenager and have gone through several different softwares since then, my tracks were a bit of a mess.

I recently gathered them all into one folder and renamed them all as "Artist - Track Name", and have been spending weeks updating all the tags with missing and incorrect information. It's a project I should have done years ago.

I use iTunes / Music app to build all my playlists and Doug's Applescripts allowed me to change the file names (etc) while still allowing iTunes to point to the files.

But now I need to get Rekordbox to relocate all the files, of course, which I was expecting. I would REALLY prefer to use a workaround so I don't have to start from scratch, re-importing my collection, and rebuilding all my cues etc. It's taken years to do this already.
