Whenever I connect a tablet to the line input, the sound is hardly audible. I need to turn the channel trim to its max as well as the master output and the volume of the tablet to get any acceptable volume levels. The VU meters of the channel hardly gets into the yellow. Of course this means I have to lower the gain of the normal desks all the way to the 9 o'clock position.
It doesn't matter to which channel I connect the tablet. I've also tried two different tablets and the result is the same. Oddly enough when I connect a CDJ-2000 NXS2, I don't seem to have any problems with the volume.
So what's going on here?
Edit: for some reason my previous searches for this problem yielded no results, but when I searched for it again just moments ago, I saw multiple posts of people with the same problem. So my apologies for starting a new thread about the problem.

Have you tried this:
With the cable connected to the headphone jack of the tablet, press and hold the hard volume rocker + switch until the following message appears:
Raise volume above recommended level?
Tap the OK button. That should allow you to get to 100% output line level vs. a lower "headphone safe" level.

What is the volume on the tablet set to?
It's set to max (both media volume as well as the overall volume). Tested it on two different tablets (a Samsung and HP, both running Android - albeit different versions).
I'm bumping this old thread because I seem to have the exact same problems with both tablets and phones, and not only on my DDJ-1000, but all Pioneer gear I've tried so far: DDJ-1000, XDJ-XZ and DJM-900 NXS2. I've also tried different phones and tablet. So this doesn't seem to be a problem with my tablet/phone nor with the gear, but a problem caused by the difference of a line-level analog signal and the signal coming from a portable device.
Oddly enough, you would suspect that the problem would be the other way around, that the analog output from a portable device would produce a much higher volume than line-level devices (since headphone outputs are amplified).
So what is causing this problem? And more importantly, how can it be solved?
A consumer device has an output level of -10 dBV (0.316 volts), whereas professional line level signal is at +4 dBV (1.23 volts). Headphone outputs typically max out around the -10dBV level as well, which is 1/4 of what the DDJ or DJM expects, and it's for this reason that our newer products are incorporating specific AUX inputs for mobile devices to provide additional gain. The DDJ-1000, however, is not one of these products and you'll need to max out the gain if your device simply doesn't put out the expected signal level.
