I have a laptop for portability, such as when travelling, and a desktop in my studio. I have an external SSD that uses the drive letter Z: (I'm using Windows), which I house all of my music on. I also have a second external drive, also using the Z: drive letter that is a mirror of myoriginal drive, purely to use as a backup in case of drive failure and, to date, hasn't been used apart from to create the mirror.
I use Rekordbox primarily on my laptop to prepare my music. However, I would like to duplicate the Rekordbox database from my laptop onto my desktop so that I can prepare tracks on both without having to re-import my entire library etc and that my laptop and desktop are both identical at all times, and will treat both of myZ: drives identically.
I am ideally wanting to create Hard Shell Extension junction links, meaning I can place the originals of the database file (and any others needed) on the external drives, and then place hardlink junctions in their default install locations pointing to the external hard drive files. If I do this on the laptop and the desktop, both will in essence be using the very same database files, with both pointing the default install locations to the version on the external hard drive (bear in mind I am talking about hardlink junctions here, not simply using shortcuts).
Is this possible? And what files would I need to relocate onto my external drive to achieve this?
Or is there a better way to do it?
