DDJ-1000 Tempo fader/Buttons not responding to touch

I bought a new DDJ-1000 not even a month ago and have been using it this past week. On multiple instances the tempo fader, cue buttons and loop function did not respond to touch. They freeze for a couple seconds then start working properly again. What could be causing this, and should I return the controller?
