New CDJ-3000 arrived

Today I got my first CDJ-3000 (the 2nd is on its way). Here are my very first impressions.
So you know, my old devices are 2x XDJ-1000 MK1...

The Player is awesome! You're feeling home immediately. Handling with the new screen is great. Navigation is so much better than before. Loading of tracks is instantly. No wait time until all memory / hot cues are loaded.
Touch preview is great.

However I had a first issue, when trying loading a track (MP3, 320kBit/s) and the Player said: unsupported file format. This file played without issues on my old XDJ-1000MK1. Analysing the file with MP3val showed an offset error in the file. MP3val corrected it and the CDJ-3000 likes the file now.

What I realized is an option in the Source menu. It shows the USB, the Control Mode (CDJ) and the Control Mode (DJM-USB A) from my DJM-900nxs2. Not sure what the last one does...

ProDJ LInk works on together with the XDJ-1000MK1 and export mode link funtion from rekordbox5 works as well with the CDJ-3000, which I feared it might not.

Usually I am not an early adopter, however I was waiting for this release as the XDJ-1000MK1 are old, even they are still perfectly working. I was evaluating other Players from the competition but finally decided in favor of the CDJ-3000.

One comment in regards to the massive reactions from people, I have read under the first reviews on the web. Lots saying the CDJ-3000 is 'missing features' compared to the competition. Honestly I don't feel that way. I don't miss any of them. Otherwise I wouldn't have decided to purchase the CDJ-3000. Everyone is free to decide what is the right device for him/her. And nobody need to defend the decision made or should be called a 'fanboy' just because of that.

Just my 2 cent.

Hey Frank,

Congratulations on the purchase, and thanks for your feedback! I'm just a bit jealous because my support units haven't arrived yet. :(

Regarding the MP3 read issue, do you still have a copy of the old (un-repaired) version of the file you could send to us - forums@pioneerdj.com (references topic 900001486726 in the subject).

I'll try and get an answer for you re: the sources.

Hi Pulse,

thanks for coming back. The second CDJ-3000 will arrive tomorrow (Monday). I had to get them from different dealers due to limited available units :-)

I will send one file as requested.
Interestingly I had a good number of files which had the same issue and the CDJ-3000 didn't played them. There were files ripped from CD and converted to MP3 and I had others which had been recorded from vinyl and edited with Wavelab Elements. But couldn't find a pattern why some were ok and some not. I corrected them all with mp3val - so I am good for now.

Maybe the file will help to make the CDJ-3000 a bit more 'robust' on the file reading as the XDJ-1000MK1 was not complaining about that file.

Hi Pulse.

Regarding the Source of the Control Mode (DJM-USB A).
If I am using the Control Mode (CDJ), I can connect to rekordbox6 in HID Mode as usual.
I get prompted to select the Deck I want to control and that's it. Business as usual...

When using the Control Mode (DJM-USB A), I can connect via the HID Mode to rekordbox6 as well however, it connects the Deck assigned in the DJM. i.e. my 2 CDJ-3000 are Channel 3 and 4 on the DJM-900nxs2 and therefore Deck 3 and 4 is assigned. When using the Control Mode via the DJM the CDJs automatically get assigned to Deck 3 and 4 in rekordbox6.

Guess this is what the difference is.

Haven't had a chance to get the MP3 into software for inspection yet, but regarding the control mode... I'm sorry, I'm not seeing / understanding what the problem is?

Hi Pulse,

regarding the control mode, there is no issue. Just wasn't sure what the Control Mode of the DJM does in comparison of the CDJ. I figured it out.

No problem with it. :-)

Thanks
